On a weekend in April in 2017, we booked an AirBNB for 5 days in the rural town of Ruffy in central Victoria. We drove with a loaded car full of all of our equipment, enough clothes for 3 days and a plan to write our next EP.

All the songs we wrote on this trip (sans one) were later scrapped. A few months later, Jye had written a newer series of songs that encapsulated the direction we wanted to take Turn South more cohesively than what we wrote on this trip to Ruffy.
Those songs became Fern town.

This is a document of the instrumentals we scrapped, but more importantly the first time we tried to write together as a band in this current iteration.

We hope you enjoy this insight into a set of songs that could have transformed us into a very different band.
